We are living in a totally new and historical situation.
Never, when the COVID-19 virus appeared, we would have thought that several countries would have almost simultaneously taken such drastic measures as closing their borders and confining their populations.
The economy has come to a halt in most sectors of activity and we do not yet have any visibility on the end of this pandemic. Financial markets are in turmoil and investors are worried.
It is likely that investment decisions will be postponed. The health crisis will most likely be followed by an economic crisis before a financial crisis. This world, which is under construction, must make the most of and retain the best practices that have emerged in companies and administrations since the transition to stage 3 of the epidemic (closures of schools, colleges, high schools, restaurants and non-essential businesses).
Despite the constraints of containment, we are gradually returning to some common sense rules: public transport is no longer saturated, roads are no longer congested, most public services manage to maintain themselves despite budgetary contraints and, even more surprisingly, we are managing to work online.
This new world is also making us understand the value of technology and digital technology, especially when used to make our daily lives easier.
We have thus seen the development, in the eagerness of companies and administrations alike, of the massive use of online working to enable employees and public officials to work online (instant messaging, web conferencing, on-line organisation of meetings, conferences, presentations, etc.). We are also seeing a gradual increase in digital public policies that will accelerate after the crisis, especially in schools, where only 13% of French public schools have Digital Work Environments (DWE).
This means that there are real career opportunities on the job market for students and young people who will be active in the coming years in the technology and management sector.
